LIMA ACCOMMODATION
Lima Airport is located in the city of Callao, which is 10km from Lima’s Historical Centre, and 17km from the tourist district and cultural centre – Miraflores. Unfortunately, the city of Callao is one of the most dangerous in Peru. Local authorities advise tourists not to travel alone at night, and to stay in well-lit and busy areas.
It is always recommended to have your accommodation organised before arriving to Lima. There are many hotels and hostels located in Lima’s Historical Centre, and in Miraflores. It is all about doing your research and comparing prices to get the best value for your money.
REASONS NOT TO STAY NEAR LIMA AIRPORT
Unless you are staying at the Wyndham Costa del Sol Lima Airport – located inside the airport itself – we do not recommend staying in hotels or hostels in the city of Callao.
- Callao is unfortunately one of the most dangerous districts in Peru.
- Local authorities always advise locals and tourists not to travel alone at night, and to stay in well-lit areas.
- City tours, restaurants, cafes, museums and Lima’s famous night life are mostly located in the district of Miraflores.
- Callao is approximately 45 – 60 minutes from Miraflores, and this journey can take double the amount of time during peak hour.
